House of Compassion · Grandview, Missouri

Every kid deserves a home. Not a facility.
For 14 years, we've been exactly that — for 16 Missouri teens at a time.

A CARF-accredited home for adolescent boys, offering Emergency Placement and Residential Level 3 care. Sixteen beds. One front door. The texture of a real childhood — birthday cakes, college visits, family dinners, prom — included.

Our story

“She gave up her own house to start HOC. We've been continuing her work for fourteen years.”

House of Compassion was founded by Erika Peterson on May 5, 2012, in a home she literally gave up to make it possible. Fourteen years later, we hold a CARF accreditation, a DSS license in continuous standing, and a reputation as one of the best placements in the area.

Where your gift goes

Funding the texture of a real childhood.

Our clinical work is what earns the CARF accreditation. Donations fund everything else — the experiences that turn sixteen beds into one home. A few examples below.

$50
Fund an intake.

Personal essentials for a new resident — sheets, pillows, towels, hygiene products. The basics of having a place to land.

$200
Funds a birthday weekend.

Cake, presents, a meal out, the small dignity of being made a fuss over on the day you were born.

$2,000
A year of outings and essentials.

Annual road trips, group outings — bowling, arcade nights, go-cart afternoons — and the essentials that residents arrive without: clothing, shoes, school supplies.

“It is one of the best places I have ever been to in the past 4 years that I have been in the foster care system. I feel that I have learned a lot from House of Compassion and their staff.”

“When I came to HOC, I didn't like to listen. I even got bad grades in school. But I gave them a chance I will never regret. Now I have all A's in school, learned how to control my anger. HOC is a calm home. The staff will treat you with respect and kindness. I will miss that place so much.”

“Very good with kids. Help and works on goals. Excellent communication skills. I would recommend anyone to get their kid there. NUMBER 1 in Missouri.
