Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of compassioncare.org and the digital services House of Compassion offers, including our staff text-message program. By using the site or those services, you agree to these terms.

Who we are
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and House of Compassion (“HOC,” “we,” “us”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit residential treatment center for adolescent boys, headquartered at 13900 Southern Rd, Grandview, MO 64030. They cover the website at compassioncare.org and the digital services we provide, including the Compass Chat staff application and its SMS text-message program.
Acceptable use
You agree to use this site and our services only for lawful purposes and not to interfere with their operation, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or submit false or harmful information. The Compass Chat application is restricted to authorized House of Compassion staff; access by anyone else is not permitted.
SMS text messaging terms
House of Compassion operates Compass Chat, a private application used by our authorized staff. When you provide your mobile number in the app and request a login code, you consent to receive transactional SMS text messages — one-time verification codes — from House of Compassion. This is a login-verification (2FA) program; we do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

- Message frequency: varies based on your sign-in activity.
- Cost: Message and data rates may apply.
- Opt out: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. You will receive a confirmation and no further texts.
- Help: Reply HELP, or contact director@compassioncare.org / 816-761-CARE.
- Carriers: Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Supported carriers: messages are sent in the United States via our provider, Twilio, and major U.S. carriers are supported.
Your privacy matters: we do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your information.
Donations
Donations made through compassioncare.org are processed by Givebutter, a third-party payment platform, subject to its terms. Gifts to House of Compassion are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations are generally non-refundable; if you believe a gift was made in error, contact us and we will work with you in good faith.
Intellectual property
The content on this site — text, images, logos, and the House of Compassion name and marks — is owned by HOC or used with permission, and may not be copied or reused for commercial purposes without our written consent. You may share links to our pages freely.
No warranty
The site and our digital services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We work to keep information accurate and the site running, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every detail is current. Nothing on this website is medical, legal, or clinical advice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, House of Compassion is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or our digital services, including any delayed or undelivered text message.
Changes to these terms
When these Terms change, we update the effective date above. Continued use of the site or our services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
